Infection surveillance & National Reference Centres

A core function of Méditerranée Infection is to be at the forefront of the surveillance of infectious diseases especially contagious, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

To this end, Méditerranée Infection has set up a staff of statisticians, and computing tools, allowing tracking in real-time the evolution of numbers including: samples received by laboratories, patients seen in consultations or admitted in hospitalisation, by categories of pathology, microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi diagnosed in our laboratories and the evolution of their resistance.

Méditerranée Infection is also at the heart of the European plan EuroTravNet, which allows knowing in real-time the situation of infectious and tropical diseases that are imported into Europe by people coming back from other continents.
