Since 2004, an official strain collection was created within the Rickettsia Unit. This collection, named CSUR (Strain Collection of Rickettsia Unit) was officialised when recognised by the World Data Center for Microorganisms under the reference WDCM875. This recognition gave to the CSUR an international status, which allows receiving bacterial strains from all over the world and distribute upon request those which are not in categories A and B on the list of potential agents of bioterrorism established by the CDC of Atlanta, USA.
Strains can be sent or requested to CSUR.
